While booting: "Give root password for maintenance"

This message can occur when the system has not been shutdown in a clean way (e.g. due to power failure) or because of a hardware failure.
If the filesystem check detects inconsistencies these will be corrected automatically. Only in case of critical errors, manual interference is required. The following messages will be visible on the screen: 
*** An error occurred during the file system check.
*** Dropping you to a shell; the system will reboot
*** when you leave the shell.

Give root password for maintenance
Please proceede as follows in this case:
  • Reboot DEFENDO by holding down the "CTRL" key and pressing "d".
  • Hold down the "CTRL" key when the system starts to boot (BIOS messages)
  • The reboot will stop an the prompt "LILO boot:" should appear
  • A boot menu will show up. Select "diskcheck" using the cursor keys.
  • Press enter and the system will continue to boot
  • During the filesystem check you will be asked to confirm the fix. Just press enter everytime you are prompted.
  • You can confirm everything, however you should check how often "Connect to lost+found" occurs. Please contact technical support if this message appeared.
